Franklin Counseling & Consultation PLLC

Welcome!

I love working with clients who are motivated, creative, unique, and ambitious. Often they are creative professionals, helpers, designers, engineers, change makers, graduate students, artists, activists, or parents, seeking to make changes in how they feel about themselves, how they manage life's challenges, or how they interact with others.

About

Collaborative Supportive Interactive

At the core of my work is the humanistic belief that positive change and growth are possible. My work is action-oriented, systems-based, and informed by your creativity, imagination, values, and strengths. My approach to therapy is collaborative, supportive, and interactive with a dynamic, ongoing commitment to trauma-informed, body-positive, sex-positive, anti-racist, queer celebrating care. I am skilled at supporting clients struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, authenticity, parenting challenges, relationship difficulties, grief, recovery from trauma, religious harm, emerging adulthood support, work/life/art-making tension, and those needing to reintroduce play and creativity to daily life. I've been working in the mental health field since 2005, in private practice since 2009. I hold the WA State Designation of Mental Health Professional (MHP), Child Mental Health Specialist (CMHS), and Washington State Approved Clinical Supervisor. I earned my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. My clinical internship was with the Mazzoni Center for LGBTQ Health & Wellness in Philadelphia. I earned my BFA in Acting/Original Works from Cornish College of the Arts where I was awarded the Kreielsheimer Scholarship. Along with counseling and supervising, I also work as an educator, dramaturg, theatre/dance artist, and teaching artist. For well-being and attempting balance I participate in creative projects and love spending time with my husband and our son camping, hiking, kayaking and riding bikes. I enjoy singing badly, and doing yard work. During the pandemic I started learning to play tennis. I am terrible so far but value the opportunity to practice cultivating a beginner's mindset and tolerating and sometimes even enjoying the learning process. It's hard and fun at the same time.
